This week on Mommy Hangout we will be discussing Teen Pregnancy
Teen pregnancy has continued to be an issue. Despite declines in teen pregnancy rates, about 820,000 teens become pregnant each year. This means that 34 percent of teenagers have at least one pregnancy prior to the age of 20. 79 percent of pregnant teens are unmarried, and 80 percent of those pregnancies are unintended. If you walk into a local high school, it wouldn’t be shocking to see a pregnant student.
Why are so many teens becoming pregnant at such a young age?
What are we doing as parents and educators to help inform these teens of the risks and precautions they can take in order to prevent these girls from getting pregnant?
